Bareng – Mobile Device Social Network with Google Android SDK – Intro

Bareng is a Mobile Device Social Network (MDSN). It was customized to the Indonesian people and had its focus on the free information access with special regard to corruption, mismanagement, incident and price information. Everybody is allowed to post some information to Bareng and everybody can read it. It is not necessary to register in order to be able to use it. Bareng also provides location-based data (the actual geographical location, using Global Positioning System (GPS) or Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) triangulation, the actual date and time). Bareng based on Google Android resp. web browser at client-side and Ruby on Rails at the server-side. Hypertext Transfer Protocol Requests (HTTP-Requests) and Representational State Transfer Web Services (RESTful Web Services) were used for the purpose of communication.
